Pitchcrow Agent

See where a number came from

Check the source behind each figure Pitchcrow puts on a slide, and spot the ones it couldn't confirm.

Pitchcrow records a source for every figure, date, and quote it puts on a slide. A source is a web page, a file in your space (with the page number), or a range in a sheet.

See one element's sources

  1. Click the number, table, or chart on the slide.
  2. Click the source badge at its top-right corner. The badge shows a book icon and a count.

The list shows each source, the exact passage the number came from, and a link to open the source. For a number Pitchcrow worked out from other numbers, a line starting with = shows the math.

A dot on the badge means at least one source is Unverified or Illustrative.

See every source in the deck

Click Sources in the panel on the right. It lists every source, slide by slide. Use All, Unverified, or Illustrative at the top to filter the list. Click a row to jump to that element on its slide.

Show badges on the whole slide

Click Show sources in the bar at the bottom right of the slide, or press CommandShiftECtrlShiftE. Every element with a source gets its badge. Click it again to hide them.

What the labels mean

LabelWhat it means
UnverifiedPitchcrow couldn't confirm that the source backs up this number. Check it yourself before you send the deck.
IllustrativeNo source gave this number, so Pitchcrow filled it in as an example. The slide marks it "Illustrative".

Fix a source

In the badge's list:

  • Click Re-verify with Pitchcrow to have Pitchcrow check the element's sources again. It opens the Chat tab and asks Pitchcrow for you.
  • Click Remove source from this element to take the source off the element. This button shows only on slides you've already edited by hand.

Good to know

  • Sources are for decks. In sheets, Pitchcrow names its source files in comments on the cells.
  • Anyone who can open the deck can see its sources. Only Admins and Editors can re-verify or remove them.
